Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Ong is a self-made entrepreneur who has been managing his own business with dedication and commitment since the age of 27. His vision and mission have enabled Smart Reader® Worldwide to be a leader in early childhood education since its inception in the year 2000. With over 300 Smart Reader Kids® centres in Malaysia and another 150 centres in Brunei, Thailand, Philippines, China, and the Middle East, he emphasises on continuous quality improvement and management.
Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Ong is a regular speaker at franchise conventions, talks, and the International Trade UNCTAD/WTO World Export Development Forum. With his wealth of experience in franchising, especially in Asian countries like Thailand, the Philippines, and China, Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Ong’s active participation is indeed in line with his ideology of “GIVING BACK” to the society, disseminating information and offering advice to newcomers in the franchise fraternity.
Dato’ Sri Dr. Richard Ong consistently exudes a positive attitude and is determined to share with the world that Made-in-Malaysia educational programmes are of superior quality and is beneficial to children all over the world.

Honorary Professor Datin Sri Dato’ Dr. K H Wang is a well-known speaker in both education and business fraternities, with over 30 years of experience in teaching and training. Since 1987, she has been working with children, conducting research, and designing curriculum for early childhood education and development. Hence, Smart Reader® Worldwide became one of the earliest group of educators to adopt the phonic-based approach in the teaching of English.
As an accomplished writer, she has written many books that relate to early childhood education, care, and development. Keeping creativity in mind, she developed the Smart Reader Creative Teaching Methodology®, which became an essential component in the formulation of our Smart Reader Kids® programme. The incorporation of the Smart Reader Creative Teaching Methodology® in the curriculum has made learning fun for children.
Honorary Professor Datin Sri Dato’ Dr. K H Wang is also a winner of many local and international awards based on her ability as an outstanding woman entrepreneur. In 2011, she was certified by the Malaysia Book of Records as the woman entrepreneur who has received the most number of awards in Malaysia.
Additionally, she has mentored numerous Smart Reader® franchisees to become successful entrepreneurs both locally and internationally.
